What you need
- An Android TV or Google TV device — e.g. Chromecast with Google TV, Google TV Streamer, or a TV from Sony, TCL, Hisense or Philips running Android TV/Google TV
- A Google account signed in on the device
- Android TV OS 9 or newer recommended; check the player app’s store listing for its minimum version
- Your Sonix account or trial details
Recommended player apps
These players are made by independent developers and are not affiliated with Sonix. Pick one — you only need one.
Install the player
- 1Open the Google Play Store on the TV (on Google TV: Apps → Search for apps).
- 2Search for your chosen player, such as TiviMate, IPTV Smarters or OTT Navigator, and select Install.
- 3Open the app once installed. Allow any notification or storage permissions it asks for only if they’re needed for recordings or settings backups.
Sign in with your Sonix details
Your account or trial email contains everything you need. Keep it open on your phone while you type.
- 1Open the player app and choose to add a new playlist or user.
- 2If the app offers “Xtream Codes” (sometimes labelled “Xtream API” or “Login with Xtream”), choose it and enter the server URL, username and password exactly as written in your account details — they are case-sensitive.
- 3If you were given an M3U link instead, choose “M3U URL” or “Playlist URL” and paste the full link.
- 4Give the playlist a name you’ll recognise (for example “Sonix”) and save. The first load can take a minute while channels and categories download.
Supported login methods
Xtream Codes API
Server URL, username and password. Loads live TV, movies, series and the program guide in one step.
M3U playlist URL
A single playlist link. Widely supported; the program guide (EPG) is usually added as a separate XMLTV link.
Your account details tell you which method to use. If you’re unsure, ask support.
Set up the TV guide (EPG)
- With an Xtream Codes login, the program guide normally loads automatically — open the TV Guide or EPG view after the first sync.
- With an M3U login, add the EPG (XMLTV) link from your account details in the app’s EPG or TV Guide settings, if your plan provides one.
- If guide data is missing, set the app’s time zone to your local zone and refresh the EPG. Guide data can take several minutes to download on first use.
Common problems on Android TV
Device feels slow after install
Entry-level Google TV devices have limited storage. Clear the player’s cache from Settings → Apps and keep only one IPTV player installed.
Remote doesn’t move between categories
Most TV-optimised players use the left arrow to open categories. Check the player’s settings for an option to change remote behaviour.
