How to Set Up Sonix IPTV on Android Phones & Tablets

On Android phones and tablets, install an IPTV player from Google Play, add your Sonix details, and you can also cast to a compatible TV where the player supports it.

What you need

  • Android 8.0 or newer recommended
  • Google Play Store access
  • Your Sonix account or trial details

Recommended player apps

These players are made by independent developers and are not affiliated with Sonix. Pick one — you only need one.

Install the player

  1. 1Open Google Play and search for your chosen player.
  2. 2Tap Install, then open the app.
Install apps only from official app stores or the developer’s own website. We never ask you to download files from unofficial sources.

Sign in with your Sonix details

Your account or trial email contains everything you need. Keep it open on your phone while you type.

  1. 1Open the player app and choose to add a new playlist or user.
  2. 2If the app offers “Xtream Codes” (sometimes labelled “Xtream API” or “Login with Xtream”), choose it and enter the server URL, username and password exactly as written in your account details — they are case-sensitive.
  3. 3If you were given an M3U link instead, choose “M3U URL” or “Playlist URL” and paste the full link.
  4. 4Give the playlist a name you’ll recognise (for example “Sonix”) and save. The first load can take a minute while channels and categories download.

Supported login methods

Xtream Codes API

Server URL, username and password. Loads live TV, movies, series and the program guide in one step.

M3U playlist URL

A single playlist link. Widely supported; the program guide (EPG) is usually added as a separate XMLTV link.

Your account details tell you which method to use. If you’re unsure, ask support.

Set up the TV guide (EPG)

  • With an Xtream Codes login, the program guide normally loads automatically — open the TV Guide or EPG view after the first sync.
  • With an M3U login, add the EPG (XMLTV) link from your account details in the app’s EPG or TV Guide settings, if your plan provides one.
  • If guide data is missing, set the app’s time zone to your local zone and refresh the EPG. Guide data can take several minutes to download on first use.

Common problems on Android phone

Battery saver interrupts playback

Exclude the player from battery optimisation in Settings → Apps → [player] → Battery.

Casting doesn’t start

Make sure phone and TV are on the same Wi-Fi network. Not all players support casting.
