How to Set Up Sonix IPTV on Samsung Smart TV

Samsung Smart TVs run Tizen, which supports a smaller set of IPTV players than Android. Install a compatible player from the Samsung app store, follow its activation step, then add your Sonix details.

What you need

  • A Samsung Smart TV running Tizen (most models from 2017 onward)
  • The TV’s software up to date (Settings → Support → Software Update)
  • Your Sonix account or trial details — and, for MAC-activated players, your TV’s MAC/device ID

Recommended player apps

These players are made by independent developers and are not affiliated with Sonix. Pick one — you only need one.

Install the player

  1. 1Press Home on the remote and open Apps.
  2. 2Use the search icon to look for your chosen player app. Availability differs by model year and region.
  3. 3Install the app and open it. Many Tizen players show a MAC address or device ID and a short activation code on first launch — note these down.
  4. 4If the player requires activation, complete it on the developer’s official website. Many Smart TV players charge their own one-time or yearly licence fee after a free period; this is paid to the app developer and is separate from your Sonix subscription.
Install apps only from official app stores or the developer’s own website. We never ask you to download files from unofficial sources.

Sign in with your Sonix details

Your account or trial email contains everything you need. Keep it open on your phone while you type.

  1. 1For players that use a web portal (common on Tizen), go to the developer’s official site, enter your device’s MAC/device ID and key, and add your Sonix M3U link or Xtream details there.
  2. 2For players with an on-screen login, choose Xtream Codes and enter the server URL, username and password from your account details.
  3. 3Restart the app on the TV so it downloads the playlist. If you sent us your MAC/device ID during sign-up, include it exactly as shown in the app.

Supported login methods

Xtream Codes API

Server URL, username and password. Loads live TV, movies, series and the program guide in one step.

M3U playlist URL

A single playlist link. Widely supported; the program guide (EPG) is usually added as a separate XMLTV link.

Portal / MAC address

Your device’s MAC address is registered on our side, then you enter the portal URL we provide.

Your account details tell you which method to use. If you’re unsure, ask support.

Set up the TV guide (EPG)

  • With an Xtream Codes login, the program guide normally loads automatically — open the TV Guide or EPG view after the first sync.
  • With an M3U login, add the EPG (XMLTV) link from your account details in the app’s EPG or TV Guide settings, if your plan provides one.
  • If guide data is missing, set the app’s time zone to your local zone and refresh the EPG. Guide data can take several minutes to download on first use.

Common problems on Samsung TV

App disappeared after a TV update

Smart TV app stores change. Reinstall from Apps, or switch to a Fire TV or Google TV device for the widest choice of players.

Playlist shows as expired in the app

This usually refers to the player’s own licence, not your Sonix plan. Check the activation status on the developer’s website.
